Question Removing Dome Light Assy for hardwiring Passport

Wanted to hardwire my Passport and found THIS earlier thread and wondered if any of you have done the install on a 997.2 and if there was any significant differences than this earlier guide?

I tried to remove the lens as shown in the first step and it was so tenacious that the lens won! I was afraid I was about to break something so I stopped. Any tips on removing the lens assy to access the wiring?

.

I did the Valentine One install through the dome light and it was relatively easy. I followed the same instruction you have. Make sure you visit the Radioshack for necessary connector.

Alternatively you can lower the entire upper console as shown in manual to use manual sunroof tool.
Be careful when you pop out the homelink switches, you must remove the entire switch assembly or you can do like I did the first time and just pop the top off the switch and all the little pieces come apart...no problem reassembly is ok.
Then remove the 2 screws and drop the panel.
It actually gives you more room to work.

I have the full sunroof model, aka Cab!

I would prefer to just connect through the dome light as shown, I'm just reticent to put a pry bar on that lens.

Well, it popped, but not out!
Evidently the Cab is different, but that sucker was not going without a fight, and in the end, it broke. Still couldn't get it out. Hopefully I can purchase just the lens without the whole assy.

That's OK, it's not the cracked lens, it's that I still can't get the #%&@ housing out

I wonder what you do if a bulb burns out !
